Shmangus Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Shmangus. By creating an account or using the app or the website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Shmangus.

Your account

You need an account, and you sign in with a code sent to your email address. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be 17 or older to use Shmangus — the app includes a web browser with unrestricted access.

What you may not post — no tolerance

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive users. Anywhere you can write to other people — Messages, Community rooms and communities, shared reminders, stickers, profile names and photos — you may not post, send, or upload content that is:

harassing, threatening, bullying, or targeted at a person or group;
hateful, or that demeans people for who they are;
sexually explicit, or that sexualises a minor in any way;
violent, gory, or that encourages self-harm;
illegal, or that promotes an illegal act;
spam, a scam, or an impersonation of somebody else;
somebody else's, where you have no right to post it.

Content that breaks these rules is removed, and accounts that post it are suspended or deleted — for a serious breach, on the first one and without warning.

How this is enforced

Report. Every post, reply and message has a Report action. Reports reach us directly and are reviewed, ordinarily within 24 hours.
Block. You can block anyone. A blocked person's posts, replies and messages disappear for you everywhere in Shmangus, and they are not told.
Moderators. Every community has moderators — its owner and whoever they appoint — who can remove content and remove members. Shmangus's own moderators can act anywhere.
Us. We may remove any content and end any account that breaks these terms, at our discretion.

The assistant

Shmangus answers using Claude, from Anthropic. Its answers can be wrong. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, or financial decisions. Health — meals, workouts and weigh-ins — is general wellness, not medical advice; talk to a doctor before changing how you eat or train, particularly if you have a condition or are pregnant.

Credit and payment

You can run the assistant on your own Anthropic API key at no cost to us, or on account credit. Credit is bought on the Shmangus website, is charged at what the model use costs, and is not refundable except where the law requires it. Nothing is charged inside the app.

Your content

What you write stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to store it, sync it between your devices, and show it to the people you send it to. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train models.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time — in the app, Settings → Delete account. It erases your data from our servers: every table keyed to you, and the files you uploaded. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms.

No warranty

Shmangus is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and continuing to use Shmangus after a change means you accept it.
